Hello again:
Just for enjoy. Several pictures of one nice but not black thersites thersites gem from Stansbury, Saint Vincent Gulf, South Australia, collected by diver on sponges in 1995.
Still very fresh and glossy!
Regards,
Beni

G'day,
always a nice species to have in your collection and always a thrill for me to see whilst diving!
to add to your data...
Stansbury is on the Yorke Peninisula (Gulf St Vincent), South Australia
The third picture shows me that your shell is a young adult. Really mature adults have fully black lower sides and cream/ white and black base. No sign of brown etc near the aperture.
Very hard to find this species in anything approaching gem condition from my experience!
Nice shell.
Rgds,
Simon |

Thanks Simon, for your comments...
I really didn´t know what the shell is a young adult! I really believed it was a mature one...
I will take a look of the mature specimens pictured in the A.S.C.

Nice pictures all of them - always nice to share
Altough Simon is absolutely correct that the thersites is a young adult, it is still to be considered adult.
In the future we will add to our data: hatchling, very young bulla, wel formed bulla, transition from bulla to subadult, young subadult, well formed subadult and so on.
An interesting point that could confirm adulthood : was this shell sexually mature? f.i. found on egg cluster or in the presence of a partner?
I remain by my eternal position: a cypraea addict needs large, extended numbers of the same species, from every place possible and altough I never took a living subadult cypraea myself, I have several in my collection.
For me this thersites is to be considered adult, let it indeed be a young adult.
