I'm also an avid fan of umbilia. Since there's some interest on the forum I thought I'd share some with you all.

The largest shell is 116mm and the smallest is 69mm in the armeniaca.

The hesitata range from 107mm to 93mm.

Middle row shows typical form of howelli far left, along with other variations.

Bottom row include from left to right 2 capricornia, petilirostris, and orriettae.

Thank you for the kind remarks everyone. I'll take some separate pictures of the white shell since people like it. Umbilia has always been a favourite of mine. Unfortunately my last collection of umbilia had to be sold due to "life" events as well as all of my zoila. So it's good to acquire a nice assortment of specimens again. I doubt I'll ever get into zoila heavily again, it took years to acquire the specimens I had, but time will tell.....oh...and winning lottery will help immensely... Lachen

why is it everytime i try quoting a message it just comes out all messed up? Anyway nice Umbilias! I especially like hesitatas! their gloss reminds of marginatas, another favorite, not too shiny (like thersites), but just perfect. Smilie
You have a nice a series of armeniacas and other umbilias!
Its sometimes nice to just stare at them (and kiss) LOL

I am sorry that you have to sell your zoilas. Such is life sometimes! Traurig

Kindest,

Edward. Smilie

Dear Iain,

Perfect armeniacas. Lovely shells. Congratulations. This is also my favourite cowries, except cowries from Meditteranean.

By the way I will go soon to Crete (Greece) again and hope find some super cowries ... Sehr glücklich

Warmest regards from Poland,
Michael P.
