These strange colourforms of Cypraea tigris are very popular among Cowry-collectors. On photo 2 I have pictured 3 specimens.
On photo 1 you see the darkest specimen I have ever
received downhere. It is almost 50% solid black.

Thanks, but the shells are really hard to get. My Eastafrican contacts have to look for them between thousands and thousands of regular tigris before they even find one...

and thats what makes them special... they are not a dime a dozen! The hurricane eye pattern one from the other post was even more speccie than these in my humble opinion!

Thanks for your kind words, Notocypraea! I know very special tigris will cost a fortune when you buy them at auction-sites. And...with 2 daughters of 17 and 19 years old, I cannot spent lots of money. The girls are still studying and cost a lot...
However, for me it is a real sport to find extremely strange tigris (or other Cowries) for prices I can afford.
In the past 40+ years I have built a network all around the world from which I get my shells.
Would you believe an orange/yellow tigris? It is not a microwave product..
